Things We Absorb

Our bodies absorb things through the mucosal lining within our bodies which begin in the mouth (the gums, movable inner cheek lining, tongue lining, GI tract lining, etc) and the outer skin. For this reason, environmental toxins play a large role in our health. What we eat, put in our mouth or on the skin absorbs and can either provide more nutrition, or provide more toxins. Careful choice of skin care, detergents, shampoos, are therefore essential.

Choice of Products:
This is just a personal preference, yet with searching through many options, having tried so many types of skin care throughout my life, only two options that I came in contact with sufficed as safe and effective. One must be purchased from South Korea - Lyanature. But here in the US, Pure 100% thus far has been the best. They even have a line of color makeup products which are made with fruits, veges, and herbs.

Some other products I have tried and loved:
- Dr Bronner’s Baby Unscented Sugar Soap line
- The Griffin Method Hair Care line

Hydration:
One thing many struggle with is hydration. Lotion or oil? Or just water sprays? I have noticed deeper hydration when a lotion and an oil are mixed in the palm with each application rather than expecting one product to do it all.

Mixing a natural lotion with a natural oil creates a synergy and becomes deeply hydrating. It may be due to the fact that oils, or fats, tend to help things get through our body’s barriers easier. Almond Oil i nourishing or Jojoba Oil is penetrating, with one of these as a base, drop Frankincense Essential Oil, which is anti-inflammatory and great for the skin, and mix gently. A 4 fl oz of the base or carrier oil with 20-25 drops of the essential oil is good for mixing with your lotion.

After a shower, gently pat dry the skin with a towel, and mix a little lotion and a drop of oil and apply liberally face and neck.
